Whether you are looking for your first sailing vacation or you are an experienced yacht charterer, you can be sure that a great holiday can be had afloat.

There are however certain aspects that need to be taken into account when planning your trip and level of experience is certainly one of those. Complete beginners should not be afraid to charter a yacht complete with skipper and crew and indeed this is the favoured option even for more experienced sailors.

On these vacations you still get to help out and sail the boat but the responsibility and control rests with the professionals who know what they are doing both in terms of boat control, navigation and safety afloat.

Alternatively there are flotilla charters or sailing schools, both giving you the opportunity to sail in a safe environment whilst improving your skills. For those with more experience, there are many bareboat charter companies that will hire out just the boat.

Of course if you just want to sit back and let the crew take the strain, than there are holiday packages that cater for that as well.

For those who are just looking for a taster, there are day (and half day) adventures, where you can join a boat as part of a group of other like minded people, and get to experience the rudiments of sailing. These can range from a gentle introduction, to a more arduous day sail racing.
