Safari Safari, from the Swahili word for travel, provides the opportunity so see some of the worlds most spectacular animals in their native surroundings.

Traditionally focusing on the “Big Five” animals (originally named because these were the most popular to hunt) safari’s offer the chance to see lions, leopards, elephants, rhino and buffalo. This tourism also helps to preserve the natural habitat and the numbers of these endangered species.

Trips can be diverse to suit budget and the level of comfort you require. You can get down and personal with the animals and take a tour with tented campsite accommodation or opt for a lodge style accommodation with the comfort of real beds.

Travel is usually by four wheel drive, although there are horseback trips, usually for more experienced riders only.

Either way, to see animals there is likely to be a level of dawn or dusk excursions and you will find that the more you put into the experience, the more it will give back to you. Once you have considered the type of safari and accommodation, you need to narrow down the base for your trip. First Choice is usually between Southern Africa or East Africa
