Tanzania Safari

Serengeti National Park

From the tall snow capped peaks of Kilimanjaro, to the vast savannahs of the Serengeti, Tanzania is a land of many wonders in which to enjoy your safari experience. The country neighbours Kenya and Mozambique and borders the Indian Ocean. In addition to possibly the best wildlife photographic safaris in Africa, there are beaches on which to relax and the marine park at Mafia Island.

Tanzania Safaris are usually split to cover either a Northern or Southern route. The most developed, yet still unspoilt Tanzanian tourist route is the Northern circuit which encompasses many of the parks and reserves in Northern Tanzania. These include:

Serengeti National Park which covers 14,763 sq km of endless rolling plains reaching to the Kenyan border and extending almost to Lake Victoria.

The estimated three million large mammals that roam the park include antelope, umpala, zebra, gazelles, topi, buffalo and wildebeast, as well as lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, rhino, elephant, hippopotamus and hyena. In addition there are a wide variety of birds (almost 500 species) and reptiles. May or early June sees the annual migration of zebra and wildebeest.

There are a number of lodges and camps to stay at in the Serengeti as well as public campsites (some very basic without water) as well as 12 wilderness campsites.
