Caribbean Sailing Vacations

The Virgin Islands

The Virgin Islands, possibly the most popular area for sailing in the Caribbean, is split into the U.S Virgins to the West, and the British Virgins to the East. The islands are relatively close together and has generally smooth water with many anchorages, all in sight of the islands.

Because of this the Islands are over popular so if you are looking for deserted seas, this may not be the place for you.

There are many guides available, and like all vacations, you should plan your trip in advance.

The US Virgin Islands still remain a taste of their former Danish ownership, although all the trappings of America can now be found here, particularly in the capital, Charlotte Amalie (including fast food, tourist and souvenir shops)

Points of note in the British Virgin Islands include the diving at Salt Island where the clear seas make for ideal diving particularly around the wreck of the sunken ‘Rhone’, whose seabed resting place has become home to a multitude of coloured fish.
