Ngorongoro Conservation Area

As well as the Serengeti National Park the Northern route also encompasses the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, located between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara. The volcanic Ngorongoro crater is 610 metres deep and provides stunning views, with lodges built around the crater itself. Within the crater activities include bird watching, photography, walking safaris, and 4x4 game viewing safaris.

Animals within the crater are dominated by Zebra and Wildebeest but it is possibly the best location to see black rhino. There are also lions, leopards, cheetah, elephants, buffalo, flamingos and other water birds around the crater floor.
